General Information

Full name in English: Republican Public Organization "Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs"

The organization's mission:

Advocacy of humanitarian principles and ideas of UNESCO in education, science, culture and communication through formation of UNESCO clubs all over the country

Objectives of the organization:

1. Inform society about UNESCO activity.

2. Involve children, young people and adults into the activities on advocacy of UNESCO ideals and principles.

3. Educate children and youth to be real citizens of the country with a proactive approach to life.

Organization structure: 

1. Supreme body - the Conference.

2. Governing body - the Board headed by the chairman.

3. Working body - the Secretariat, consisting of the Secretary-General and the program managers.

4. UNESCO Clubs - structural units of the NGO “BelAU”.

5. Members of the NGO “BelAU”- today about 2000 members, united in UNESCO Clubs.


The organization's activities:

1. Centralized programs- the programs implemented by the central office of the NGO “BelAU” - the Secretariat, and aimed to involve the clubs in the project activities, as well as young people who are not members of the clubs.

2. UNESCO clubs programs and activities. UNESCO clubs are independent to choose fields of work and to develop and implement projects and programs.

The educational programs are a priority of our work. All programs and projects proposed by the Secretariat, have an educational aspect and aimed to educate members of the clubs, who personally participate in seminars, trainings, meetings, universities; to educate other club members through knowledge transfer by prepared representatives of the clubs; to educate other people (children, youth and adults), who participate in the projects and programs implemented by the clubs or the association.

Established: December 17, 1989.

Registered by the Ministry of Justice of Belarus: January 25, 1991, the certificate 40.

Registered by the Ministry of Justice of Belarus: August 31, 2006, the certificate 01521.

Included in the “Republican rregister of youth associations, supported by the government”on April 26, 2006, 251.

Structure: 56 UNESCO clubs.

Geographical representation:21 administrative districts of Belarus.

Quantity of members: fluctuates annually from 1000 to 2000 people.

Quantity of young people annually participating in NGO “BelAU” activities: about 30 000 people.
